Kenneth Earl Middlebrook

Kenneth Earl Middlebrook, 79, of 380 Hinsdale Road died Tuesday evening at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Susan A. and Peter C. Salvatore, where he had resided for two years.

Born in Dalton on July 17, 1924, son of Randel H. Middlebrook Sr. and Irene Gunn Middlebrook, he was a 1942 graduate of Pittsfield High School.

A Navy veteran of World War II, he served from 1943 to 1946.

He was employed as an operating engineer at Petricca Construction for 20 years and by the town of Dalton Highway Department from 1979 to 1987.

He was a communicant of St. Agnes' Church.

He was a member of the VFW Post 9566 and the American Legion Post 155, both in Dalton, and a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 98 AFL-CIO.

He enjoyed spending time with his granddaughters and their horses.

His wife, the former Marilyn Conrow, whom he married June 5, 1948, died Dec. 25, 2001.

Besides his daughter, he leaves a son, Mark J. Middlebrook of Dalton; a brother, Randel H. Middlebrook Jr. of Dalton; four grandchildren and two step-grandchildren. Another daughter, Marilyn G. Middlebrook, died at birth.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Kenneth Middlebrook, age 79, who died Tuesday, Oct. 14, is also survived by his son-in-law, Peter C. Salvatore of Dalton; two granddaughters, Dina L. LaBeau and her husband, Jeremy R. LaBeau of Dalton; Beth Salvatore of Dalton; two grandchildren, Dorin and Colin Middlebrook of Dalton, and two step-grandchildren, Wendy Salvatore and Sarah Foggon.

Funeral services will be Friday, Oct. 17, at 8:15 from the DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9 at St. Agnes' Church, celebrated by the Rev. Christopher A. Malatesta, pastor. Burial will follow in Ashuelot Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Thursday, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home, 890 East Main St., Dalton.
