Michael Krasiewich, 86, of 38 Watson St. died Tuesday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 26, 1917, son of John and Helen Gulka Krasiewich, he was a 1935 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served from 1941 to 1945 and was in the Battle of the Bulge.
He was employed as a postal clerk by the Pittsfield post office, retiring in 1983 after many years of service.
He was a member of St. Nicholas' Russian Orthodox Church and the Pittsfield VFW Post 448.
He and his wife, the former Eva Petrousky, were married in 1946.
Besides his wife, he leaves a son, David Krasiewich of Simsbury, Conn., and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Michael Krasiewich died Oct. 14 in Pittsfield. Beloved grandfather to Alea. A service will be held today, Thursday, at 7 p.m. at the DWYER FUNERAL HOME.
Calling hours will be Friday, Oct. 17, from 9 to 10 at the funeral home, followed by services at 10:30 at St. Nicholas' Russian Orthodox Church with the Rev. George Tvyapko, pastor, officiating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
He was predeceased by a brother, Nicholas, in 1969. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home.
