James Russell Keegan

James Russell Keegan, 81, of Wilmington, N.C., a former Pittsfield resident, died Wednesday at New Hanover Regional Medical Center in Wilmington.
Born on Feb. 28, 1922, son of James E. and Marguerite Reed Keegan, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School, the former Cranwell Preparatory School and Providence College in Providence, R.I. An Army veteran of World War II, he served in the India and China-Burma theater.
He was a school supply salesman for more than 50 years, retiring from J.L. Hammett School Supply Co. in Braintree in 1994.
He leaves his wife of 44 years, the former Doris Hickey; a son, James E. Keegan of Silver Spring, Md.; a daughter, Mary Ellen Voltz of Valparaiso, Fla.; two sisters, Marion Menzoff of Wilmington, and Janet Dubay of Prince Frederick, Md.; and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, Oct. 18, at 11 at St. Mark Church by the Rev. Matthew Hendrick. The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 at the church.
The ANDREWS MORTUARY CHAPEL in Wilmington is in charge of arrangements.
