Charles K. Belknap

Charles K. Belknap, 74, of 46 Baldwin Ave. died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Hudson, N.Y., on Oct. 22, 1928, son of Kenneth C. and Alice Jones Belknap, he was a 1946 graduate of Hudson High School in Hudson.

He was an Army veteran who served in Germany during the Korean War.

He moved to Pittsfield when he was 18 to work for GE's power transformer division, and retired in 1987 as a methods specialist after 41 years of service. He was also a shop steward for the I.B.E.W.

Mr. Belknap was a communicant of All Souls' Church, and a member of the Italian-American Club and the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs.

He enjoyed trips to the casino, coin collecting and sports.

His first wife, the former Eleanor R. Quinn, died on Aug. 28, 1990.

He leaves his wife, the former Olga Totaro Arpante, whom he married on Nov. 1, 1997; three sons, Paul H. Belknap, Brian K. Belknap and Gary W. Belknap, all of Pittsfield; two daughters, Jane Belknap of Dalton and Karen Rogers of Pittsfield; three stepsons, Richard Arpante and Robert Arpante, both of Pittsfield, and Thomas Arpante of Westboro; a stepdaughter, Lisa Arpante of Vail, Colo., seven grandchildren, and five stepgrandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Charles K. Belknap, 74, beloved grandfather to Sarah, Amy, Thomas Eric, Allison, Kelly and Nicole, and stepgrandfather to Gregory, Allison, Mitch, Gabrielle and Jiana, will be Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 9 from the DWYER FUNERAL HOME, 776 North St., with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 in All Souls' Church, with the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., pastor, officiating.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday, Oct. 13, from 2 to 5. In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory may be made to the Catholic Youth Center, in care of the funeral home.
