Shirley R. Smith

Shirley R. Smith, 73, of Devonshire Estates, formerly of Benedict Road, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.

Born in Shrewsbury Township, Pa., on Dec. 4, 1929, daughter of Palmer L. and M. Madeline Orwig Reichard, she was a 1947 graduate of New Freedom High School.

She moved to Pittsfield in 1963.

She was employed in sales by the former Paris Store, England Brothers and Steiger's Department store, retiring in 1992.

She was a member of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Pittsfield, where she served on the Church Council, and was a member of the Social Ministry and the Altar Guild.

Her husband, Frank C. Smith, whom she married Dec. 28, 1973, died Oct. 10, 1992.

She leaves a son, R. Carter Terenzini of Spencer; a brother, Evans C. Reichard of Gettysburg, Pa.; a sister, Dagmar M. Wirz of New Freedom, Pa.; and a grandson. She is also survived by her caregiver, Ellen L. Goodrich of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Shirley Smith will be Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 10 at Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Peter D. Boehringer, pastor, officiating. Burial will be Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Evangelical Lutheran Church (World Hunger) through the funeral home. She leaves a grandson, R. Brian Terenzini of Las Vegas. She was predeceased by a grandson, Damon P. Terenzini, and a brother, Carl L. Reichard of Pennsylvania.
