Gail M. Gelinas

Gail M. Gelinas, 48, formerly of 55 Lucia Drive, died yesterday morning at Craneville Place in Dalton, following a long battle with Huntington's chorea.
Born in Pittsfield on July 19, 1955, daughter of Victor McNeil and the late Alice Wick McNeil, she attended local schools and was a 1974 graduate of Taconic High School.
Mrs. Gelinas was employed by the Pittsfield post office for more than 20 years, retiring in 1995 due to ill health.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church.
Her husband, William D. "Geli" Gelinas, whom she married June 20, 1980, died June 12, 1998.
Besides her father of California, she leaves two sons, Joseph Gelinas and Sean Gelinas, both of Dalton; two brothers, Robert McNeil of Clearwater, Fla., and Edward McNeil of North Adams; and a sister, Tammy Lee McNeil of Pittsfield. She also leaves her guardian, Judith Martin of Pittsfield, who raised her from age 11.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Gail Gelinas, age 48, died Oct. 13, 2003. She is also survived by two nieces; two nephews; a great-niece, and two great-nephews. She was predeceased by her brother, Victor McNeil. The family wishes to extend their sincere gratitude to the staff of Craneville Place for the outstanding care that she received.
Calling hours will be on Wednesday from 4 to 7 p.m. at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be on Thursday at 9:15 a.m. from the funeral home with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 a.m. at Sacred Heart Church by the Rev. James K. Joyce, pastor. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made in her memory to the Huntington's Chorea Foundation in care of the funeral home.
