Florence Sedgwick Hall, 84, of 176 Columbus Ave. died Thursday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
She had been a longtime survivor of throat cancer.
Born in Pittsfield on Dec. 3, 1918, daughter of George H. and Katherine C. Doyle Matthews, she attended local schools.
Mrs. Hall was a homemaker.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church and member of the VFW Ladies' Auxiliary Post 448, where she served as vice president and senior vice president.
She was a Red Sox fan and enjoyed doing crossword puzzles.
She leaves two sons, David S. Sedgwick of Coto de Caza, Calif., and Philip C. Sedgwick of Scottsdale, Ariz.; two daughters, Sharron A. Parzick of Coto de Caza and Pamela M. Penttila of Hubbardston; a brother, Patrick Mathews of Hudson, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Florence Matthews Sedgwick Hall, who died Thursday, Oct. 2, was called "Toni" by her friends and "Granny" by all young folks who knew her. She was blessed with a great sense of humor. Mrs. Hall was predeceased by her brothers George, Richard, William and Vincent Matthews.
She will be missed by her 10 grandchildren, Shaun Stephen, Rick, Kim, Shenna, David Shaun, Shannon, Shannell, Wendy, Adam and Angela. The funeral will be Tuesday, Oct. 7, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church celebrated by the Rev. Henry L. Dorsch, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
