William A. "Huffy" Huffstater

William A. "Huffy" Huffstater, 70, of 23 Hamlin St. died Tuesday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on March 11, 1933, son of Leon and Florence Evo Huffstater, he was educated in local schools.
An Army veteran, he served as a corporal with the 5th Infantry Division in Germany.
Mr. Huffstater was employed as a laborer for the Pittsfield Department of Public Works for 29 years, working in its sanitation and water department. He retired in 1992. He also had worked for several years at the former Campus Girl coat company.
He was a communicant of St. Mary's Church. He was a member of VFW Post 448.
He enjoyed playing checkers, traveling, tag sales and walking at Pontoosuc Lake.
He and his wife, the former Angelina H. Pugliese, were married May 28, 1955, in Pittsfield.
His wife died Jan. 30, 1987.
He leaves his brother, Norman J. Huffstater Sr. of Pittsfield, and his caregivers, his niece Linda Ellsworth and her husband, Kevin, of Peru.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for William A. "Huffy" Huffstater, 70, of Pittsfield, who died Sept. 30, 2003, will be Friday at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Mary the Morningstar Church by the Rev. Paul Bombardier, pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph's Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. He also leaves his two nieces, Diane S. Huffstater and Carol A. Alfonso, both of Pittsfield; a nephew, Norman J. Huffstater Jr. of Pittsfield; a grandniece, Jessica Huffstater and five grandnephews, Jeffrey and Shaun Ellsworth, Jason Huffstater, Alan Alfonso and Steven Hillard. He was predeceased by another brother, Richard Huffstater, late of Pittsfield.
