Josef Palliardi, 59, of Sterling Manor, Burnside Avenue, Manchester, Conn., formerly of Pittsfield, died Monday at Sterling Manor of complications of diabetes.
He had resided there for several months.
Born in Sanok, Poland, on March 19, 1944, son of Rudolph and Apolonia Drwiega Palliardi, he attended schools in Rothenbergen, Germany. The family came to the United States when he was about 12 and had a farm in Andover, Conn.
An Army veteran of the Vietnam War, he served as a medical corpsman.
While in Pittsfield, Mr. Palliardi and his late brother, Edward Palliardi, owned and operated the former Atlas Maintenance Inc. With his former wife, Elizabeth Bourne Palliardi, he also had owned and operated the former Golden Key Motel during the 1970s.
He enjoyed hunting and fishing, and watching television.
Besides his former wife, of Pittsfield, he leaves a son, David Palliardi of Pittsfield; three daughters, Caroline Palliardi and Rosanne Palliardi, both of Pittsfield, and Theresa Comeau of Carver; two sisters, Hedy Palliardi of Manchester and Yanena Doskaska of Poland; four brothers, Leo Palliardi and Frank Palliardi, both of Manchester, Steve Palliardi of Coventry, Conn., and Peter Palliardi of Aurora, Colo.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Josef Palliardi, who died Sept. 22, 2003, will be Friday, Sept. 26, at 11 at Trinity Covenant Church, 302 Hackmatack St., Manchester. Burial will follow in Townsend Cemetery, Andover, Conn.
Family and friends may call Friday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at JOHN F. TIERNEY FUNERAL HOME, 219 West Center St., Manchester. He was predeceased by his brother Edward Palliardi on March 17, 2001.
