Stella Rose Sadlowski

Stella Rose Sadlowski, 91, of 65 Columbus Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on May 31, 1912, daughter of Stanislaw and Katarzyna Todzia Pisiewski, she attended schools in Windsor, Dalton and Pittsfield.

Mrs. Sadlowski managed several former downtown movie theaters at various times. At the time of her retirement in 1983, she was the manager of the former Inn Cinema. She also had worked at A.H. Rice Silk Mill and, during World War II and prior to her marriage in 1930, was employed by GE.

She was a communicant of St. Charles' and Holy Family churches and a former member of the Pittsfield Senior and Polish Community centers.

Her husband, Edward B. Sadlowski, whom she married Sept. 15, 1930, died Nov. 3, 2000.

She leaves four sons, Edward J. Sadlowski of Orlando, Fla., Eugene Sadlowski of Yuba City, Calif., David A. Sadlowski of Huntsville, Ala., and Kenneth E. Sadlowski of Pittsfield; seven daughters, Kathryn Danis and Theresa C. Trainor, both of Pittsfield, Virginia Manning of West Plains, Mo., Patricia M. Huffman of Lazerne Valley, Calif., Lorraine A. Hodge of Independence, Mo., Christine H. Deno of Stockbridge and Margaret A. Sadlowski, with whom she made her home; a brother, Edward Pisiewski of Easthampton; three sisters, Mary Liley of Rochester, N.Y., Anna Hood of Williamstown and Jesse Duda of Pittsfield; 27 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren, and seven great-great-grandchildren. Another daughter, Mary Ann Sadlowski, died in 1942.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Stella Rose Sadlowski died Sunday, Sept. 21, in Pittsfield. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Sept. 24, from 4 to 7 at DWYER FUNERAL HOME. Services will be Thursday, Sept. 25, at 9:15 from the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Charles' Church celebrated by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor.

Graveside services will be at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital or to the Ronald McDonald House Charity in care of the funeral home. She leaves several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a great-granddaughter, Valerie Manning.

Beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother to her family. She will be dearly missed but never forgotten. Her greatest joy in life was her family. She loved playing games with her grandchildren and had the incredible ability to remember each birthday and sent something special to each one for every occasion.
