Richard Sheldon Hanna

Richard Sheldon Hanna, 60, of 395 Fenn St. died Thursday as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident in North Adams that same night.

Born in Pittsfield on April 27, 1943, son of Edna Miller Hanna and the late James R. Hanna Sr., he was a 1961 graduate of Pittsfield High School and of the New York State School of Artists in New York City.

A portrait artist, Mr. Hanna studied with Norman Rockwell.

He was a member of Berkshire Artisans and a horse racing fan and handicapper.

He also enjoyed archery.

Besides his mother, he leaves a brother, James R. Hanna Jr. of Pittsfield; a sister, Dolores Hanna Wright of Pittsfield, and a stepsister, Emily Arigoniof the town of Florida.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Richard Sheldon Hanna, who died Thursday, Sept. 18, will be conducted Friday, Sept. 26, at 11 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Clinton Dugger of Lebanon Springs, N.Y., officiating. Burial will follow in the Cemetery of the Evergreens in New Lebanon.

There will be no calling hours. Mr. Hanna also leaves his aunt and uncle, Rose and Fred Jugler of Lebanon Springs, who were very much a part of his upbringing and have always remained very devoted to him. He also leaves several nieces and nephews. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Hanna may be made to Berkshire Artisans in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
