Kathleen Mary Amos, 56, of Anderson Road, Newport, N.H., died of cancer Friday at home surrounded by her family.
She was a native of Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on April 4, 1947, daughter of James F. and Rita Ryan Moynihan, she was a 1964 graduate of Pittsfield High School. She attended St. Francis' Hospital School of Nursing in Hartford, Conn., and trained to be a registered nurse.
Mrs. Amos was employed by the Community Care Center and Extended Care Unit of Alice Peck Day Memorial Hospital in Lebanon, N.H. She also worked for a number of years at Hillcrest Hospital in the McGee Unit. Before that, she was employed by Valley Regional Hospital in Claremont, N.H., and the former Newport Hospital.
She enjoyed music, her St. Bernard dogs, and camping and boating on Crescent Lake in Unity, N.H., and trips to Cape Cod.
She leaves a son, Christopher Amos of Newport; two daughters, Tamara Amos of Newport and Kimberly Childs of Croydon, N.H.; three brothers, Dennis Moynihan of Pittsfield, Robert Moynihan of Dalton and Gary Moynihan of Windsor; a sister, Barbara Williams of Winsted, Conn., and five grandchildren. She also leaves her companion of 11 years, Richard Robinson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Kathleen Mary Amos will be conducted Wednesday, Sept. 24, at 10 at NEWTON-BARTLETT FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Donna Leslie. Friends may call on the family at the funeral home, 42 Main St., Newport, on Tuesday, Sept. 23, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9. Memorial donations may be made to the charity of the donor's choice.
