Helen J. “Honey†Roberts, 76, of 125 Mountain Drive died yesterday at home.
Born on Oct. 22, 1926, in Lee, daughter of Frederick and Lottie Brock Jahn, she was educated in Lee schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1944. She moved to Dalton in 1950 and to Pittsfield in 1977.
Mrs. Roberts was employed as an accounting clerk at Berkshire Mutual Insurance Co. for 15 years, retiring in 1987. Prior to that, she had worked as a bookkeeper at the former Kay’s Textile on North Street for 20 years.
She was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton and an active member of Alcoholics Anonymous since 1988.
She was a Red Sox fan, and she enjoyed reading and cats.
Her husband, David J. Roberts, whom she married March 4, 1977, died July 12, 1982.
She leaves two daughters, Robin A. Higgins of Dalton and Sheri P. Dodge of Billerica; a stepdaughter, Judith Heppleston of England; a sister, Charlotte Shepardson of Dalton, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Helen J. “Honey†Roberts, 76, who died Sept. 16, 2003, will be Friday at 10 at Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton, conducted by the Rev. Mary Schreiber, senior missioner. Cremation will follow.
Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 Main St., Dalton. Mrs. Roberts also leaves her three grandchildren, Meghan Higgins of Dalton and Clare and Neal Heppleston, both of England. She was predeceased by a brother, Tracy Jahn, and a sister, Ruth Chamberlain. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the AA Berkshire Inter Group, 85 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, or to the Grace Episcopal Church Building Fund in care of the funeral home.
