Kaye Tanigawa

Kaye Tanigawa, 74, of 37 Nancy Ave. died Friday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Morrill, Neb., on Feb. 22, 1929, daughter of Roy S. and Tomo Kitsunai Hosaka, she was a graduate of Mitchell (Neb.) High School, Bard Business School in Denver and Berkshire Community College, where she received an associate of fine arts degree in 1987.

Mrs. Tanigawa was an artist who worked in oils and watercolors. Her work has been shown in galleries throughout Western Massachusetts; the city of Pittsfield presented one of her pieces to its sister city in Italy, Cava de Tirreni.

She also tutored Japanese students in English and enjoyed playing bridge.

She was very active in the PEO Sisterhood (Providing Educational Opportunities to Women).

Her husband, George T. Tanigawa, whom she married Feb. 1, 1964, died May 24, 1999.

She leaves a daughter, Valerie Tanigawa of Rochester, N.Y.; a son, Timothy Tanigawa of Brookline; two sisters, Toshiko Nanbara of Nebraska and Taka Musachi of California; two brothers, Tony Hosaka of Colorado and Frank Hosaka of Kansas.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Kaye Tanigawa, who died Sept. 12, 2003, will be conducted Thursday at 10 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield by the Rev. Thomas Brigman.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Wednesday from 4 to 7. Burial will take place in Highland Cemetery in Denver. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the Renal Dialysis Fund in care of the funeral home.
