Dorothea B. Beardsley, 97, died Tuesday at Berkshire Retirement Home, where she had resided since November 2000.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 27, 1905, daughter of George S. and Clara J. Mugler Baker, she was a 1924 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
She resided at 34 Sampson Parkway before moving to the retirement home.
Mrs. Beardsley was executive secretary to Pittsfield Draft Board 2 of the U.S. Selective Service System for 28 years, retiring in October 1970.
She was a member of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, and enjoyed gardening.
Her husband, Frederick W. Beardsley, whom she married Sept. 29, 1934, died Nov. 8, 1970.
She leaves many friends.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Dorothea B. Beardsley will be conducted Friday at 10 at Pittsfield Cemetery by the Rev. James Dannals, rector of St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church.
There will be no calling hours. Friends are asked to meet inside the cemetery gate at 9:45. WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, is in charge of arrangements.
