George A. Adams

George A. Adams, 82, of 5 Whitman St. died at Berkshire Medical Center on Wednesday.

Born in Saybrook, Conn., on April 8, 1921, son of George W. and Helen Atwater Adams, he was a 1939 graduate of Pittsfield High School and the GE apprentice program.

He was a Navy veteran of World War II.

He was employed by GE for 44 years in the distribution transformer department as a draftsman and senior designer, retiring in 1984.

Mr. Adams was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield and of the Falcetti Organ Club, the Pittsfield American Legion and the GE Quarter Century Club.

He enjoyed playing the organ and traveling.

He leaves his wife, the former Hope Clark, whom he married on July 8, 1944; a brother, William Bennett of Valdosta, Ga.; and two sisters, Gayle Milligan of Brandon, Fla., and Edith Quirk of Cordova, Tenn.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for George A. Adams will be held on Monday, Aug. 25, at 1 at the First Baptist Church in Pittsfield, with the Rev. Robert Rennie, pastor, officiating.

Burial of his cremains will be in the Pittsfield Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Survivors include his brother-in-law, George Clark; his sister-in-law, Cecile Clark; his niece, Deborah Bishop, and his nephews, Peter and Mark Clark. In lieu of flowers, donations to the memorial fund at the First Baptist Church are suggested, in care of the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
