Hildegard Bednarz, 79, of 37 East Albert St., Torrington, Conn., a former resident, died Wednesday evening at Charlotte Hungerford Hospital in Torrington.
She had resided in Torrington for the past 2 1/2 years.
Born in Kassel, Germany, on Oct. 21, 1923, she attended schools there.
She emigrated to the United States in 1952 and settled in Pittsfield.
She was a homemaker.
Her husband, John J. Bednarz, whom she married May 27, 1948, died Oct. 13, 1993.
She leaves five daughters, Anita Morris of Peru, Brigitte White of Torrington, Conn., Renate Willey of Worthington, Rita Welch of Sheffield and MaryAnn Roddy of Lakeville, Conn., 10 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Hildegard Bednarz, who died Wednesday, Aug. 13, will be Saturday, Aug. 16, at 9 at the DERY FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. William D. Furey officiating.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be today, Friday, from 7 to 9 at the funeral home.
