Eleanor A. Litscher, 80, of Devonshire Estates died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center in Pittsfield.
Born in Schenectady, N.Y., on May 10, 1923, daughter of Joseph and Wanda Betlejski Pryba, she attended schools there and graduated from Draper High School in 1941.
She moved to Pittsfield in 1957 and to Lenox after her retirement.
Mrs. Litscher was a teacher’s aide at the former Tucker and Westside Community schools for 12 years, retiring in 1985.
She was a longtime member of South Congregational Church of Pittsfield, where she was a deaconess and served on many committees.
She also was a den mother for the Cub Scouts and Indian Guides for many years.
Her husband, Eitel C. Litscher, whom she married Jan. 31, 1946, died Oct. 18, 1981.
She leaves a daughter, Nancy Anglehart of Reading; two sons, Larry Litscher of East Longmeadow and Brian Litscher of Pittsfield; a sister, Wanda Powell of Schenectady, and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Eleanor A. Litscher, who died Aug. 9, 2003, will be conducted Saturday, Aug. 16, at 10:30 at South Congregational Church in Pittsfield by pastoral assistant Carolyn Peck.
Burial will be in Memory’s Garden Cemetery in Albany, N.Y. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 7 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the South Congregational Church memorial fund, in care of the funeral home.
