Mary Lou Louise Brodeur, 71, of 1937 East St. died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 22, 1932, the daughter of Frank and Mary Callaghan Beattie, she was a 1951 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Mrs. Brodeur was employed as a teachers’ aide at Morningside Community School for 30 years, retiring in 2001.
Following her retirement, she did substitute work there until November.
She was a communicant of St. Mary’s Church and enjoyed candlepin bowling and traveling.
She and her husband, Sidney J. Brodeur Sr., were married June 21, 1952.
Besides her husband, she leaves five sons, Joseph S. Brodeur of Lanesboro, William F. Brodeur, Michael J. Brodeur and Alan F. Brodeur, all of Pittsfield, and Sidney J. Brodeur Jr. of Richmond; a daughter, Linda M. Brodeur of West Peabody; two brothers, Frank Beattie of San Jose, Calif., and H. Richard Beattie of Pittsfield; three sisters, Kathleen Dalzell of Pittsfield, Margaret Pecon of Germantown, Tenn., and Elizabeth Cullen of Kissimmee, Fla., and six grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mary Lou Louise Brodeur, who died Monday, Aug. 11, 2003, was predeceased by two brothers, William Beattie and Arthur Beattie, and a sister, Rosemary Kerwood.
She leaves six grandsons, Nicholas Brodeur, Michael Barrett, Matthew Brodeur, Jason Brodeur, Jeffrey Brodeur and Jake Brodeur, and several nieces and nephews, including niece Ann Kerwood of Pittsfield. The funeral will be Thursday, Aug. 14, at 9:15 from DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 10 at St. Mary the Morning Star Church by the Rev. Paul A. Bombardier, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 8 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
