Barbara E. “Bobbie†Wood, 71, of Highview Drive died yesterday morning at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 4, 1932, daughter of Rose Gigliotti Tristany Condron and the late John Tristany, she was educated in local schools, including St. Joseph’s High School.
Mrs. Wood was last employed by the former New England Telephone Co. as a custodian for 11 years. Before that, she worked at GE in the mailroom and at BMC in the housekeeping department.
A communicant of Mount Carmel Church, she enjoyed cooking and spending time at the beach.
She and her husband, Kenneth O. Wood, were married Nov. 25, 1951.
Besides her husband and mother, of Pittsfield, she leaves three daughters, Nancy L. Andrus, Valerie Persip and Linda M. Wood, all of Pittsfield; two brothers, John Tristany of Stephentown, N.Y., and Dennis Condron of Cheshire; two stepbrothers, William Condron of North Carolina and James Condron of San Diego; six grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Barbara E. “Bobbie†Wood, 71, died Aug. 10, 2003. Barbara is also survived by her son-in-law, Terry Andrus, as well as many nieces and nephews and longtime friends.
She was predeceased by her father, John Tristany; her stepfather, Raymond Condron; her stepbrother, Thomas Condron, and her beloved dog, Figi. Calling hours will be tomorrow, Aug. 12, from 4 to 7 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME.
The funeral will be Wednesday at 9:15 at the funeral home, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Mount Carmel Church. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
