Antoinette Theresa Monroe, 80, of 290 Onota St. died Wednesday at her home.
Born in Pittsfield on Sept. 19, 1922, daughter of Peter and Stella Laporte Aulisi, she was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
A Navy veteran of World War II, she served from Dec. 16, 1943, to Aug. 12, 1946.
She received several ribbons.
She was a homemaker most of her life, except before she joined the Navy, when she worked briefly for GE.
She was a communicant of St. Mark’s Church.
Her husband, Louis R. Monroe, whom she married Oct. 12, 1946, in Mount Carmel Church, died April 21, 2000.
She leaves three daughters, Karen A. Hunkler, Janice M. Monroe and Paula J. Gonnello, all of Pittsfield; six sisters, Anne Corino of Rialto, Calif., Rose Gennari, Eleanor Coughlin, Mary Coughlan and Lucy Aulisi, all of Pittsfield, and Angelina Rische of Lanesboro; five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her son, Peter R. Monroe, who died in 2001.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Antoinette Theresa Aulisi Monroe, who died Wednesday, Aug. 2, 2003, will be Saturday, Aug. 9, at 8:45 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 9:30 at St. Mark’s Church, celebrated by the Rev. Henry L. Dorsch, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be today from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. Mrs. Monroe also leaves her son-in-law, Walter Hunkler.
In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mrs. Monroe may be made to St. Mark’s Church in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
