Mitchell F. Lombard, 49, of Columbia Arms Apartments died early Wednesday morning at home after a prolonged illness.
Born in Holyoke on April 28, 1954, son of Ruth M. Thorpe Lombard of Cohoes, N.Y., and the late William H. Lombard, he moved to Pittsfield as a child and was educated in local schools.
He was a 1973 graduate of Taconic High School.
He was a self-employed handyman and did odd jobs until his disability forced his retirement five years ago.
He was a former member of the Pittsfield Lions Club and the Civil Air Patrol.
He enjoyed reading, computers with Internet activities, and teaching his son about planes and mechanical things.
Besides his mother, he leaves a son, Brian W. Lombard of Pittsfield, and a brother, Richard A. Lombard of Ballston Lake, N.Y.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mitchell F. Lombard, age 49, died Aug. 6, 2003. Mitch is also survived by his longtime companion of 12 years, Willie Haywood, and his sister-in-law, Michele Lombard.
Funeral services will be Saturday at 11 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME with the Rev. Royal J. Gardner officiating. A visiting hour will precede the service, beginning at 10.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the American Lung Association in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
