Psyche L. Landall Douglas

Psyche L. Landall Douglas, 87, formerly of Pine Grove Drive, died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for seven months.

Born in Providence, R.I., on March 26, 1916, daughter of Charles H. and Betsey E. Greenwood Line, she was a graduate of Palmer High School and of Miami University in Ohio.

Mrs. Douglas was employed as a dental receptionist for the late Dr. E. Earl Reeves from 1963 to 1965. As a young woman, she had been a saleswoman for her family’s business, Better Brushes.

She was a member of First Congregational Church of Dalton, where she sang in the choir.

She also was a member and past president of Beta Sigma Phi sorority, a member of the Berkshire Singles and a volunteer at the Golden Age Club and the former Hillcrest Hospital.

She was a Girl Scout leader and, as a child, had attended the first Girl Scout camp in the United States.

Her first husband, Alden P. Landall, whom she married in December 1939, died Jan. 23, 1962.

Her husband, Harrison M. Douglas, whom she married in February 1966, died Oct. 14, 1991.

She leaves a son, the Rev. Kenneth C. Landall of Duxbury; a daughter, Marcia L. Grizey of Dalton; a stepdaughter, Judy Bradley of Pittsfield; three sisters, Betty Collins of Montpelier, Vt., and Rose E. Line and Barbara Johnson, both of Tucson, Ariz.; five grandchildren, five great-grandsons and a great-great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Psyche L. Landall Douglas will be conducted Sunday at 2 at First Congregational Church of Dalton by the Rev. Robert Kyte, pastor.

Private burial was in Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to First Congregational Church of Dalton Memorial Fund. WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Pittsfield is in charge of arrangements.
