Ruth E. Donovan, 90, of 19 Westover St. died yesterday at home.
She had wintered in Boynton Beach, Fla., since 1980.
Born in Rochester, N.Y., on Sept. 11, 1912, daughter of Frank and Mary Fournaise Clark, she was a 1930 graduate of Rochester High School.
Mrs. Donovan was first employed by Fannie Farmer’s in the Boston area. In the 1930s, she moved to Pittsfield and opened a Fannie Farmer’s on North Street. During the 1960s, she worked at the Berkshire Hills Shop.
For the past 30 years, she had been a homemaker.
She was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church and a member of its Rosary Society, and a member of the Elks Women’s Club.
She enjoyed knitting and needlepoint.
She and her husband, James E. Donovan, were married Jan. 6, 1945. He died Nov. 12, 1986.
She leaves a son, James M. Donovan of Hinsdale; a daughter, Susan J. Moulton of Lanesboro, and a granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Ruth E. Donovan, 90, died June 28, 2003. The funeral will be Tuesday at 9:15 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Sacred Heart Church celebrated by the Rev. James Joyce, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 3 to 7 at the funeral home. Mrs. Donovan is also survived by a son-in-law, Donald A. Moulton Jr., and a granddaughter, Nicole A. Bombardier. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
