Peter Zack, 91, of 12 Ridgeway Ave. died Sunday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on May 22, 1912, son of Peter and Elena Zack, he attended local schools.
A Army veteran of World War II, he served in North Africa and Italy.
Mr. Zack was employed as a welder in GE’s power transformer division for 38 years, retiring in 1977.
He was a member of St. Martin’s Episcopal Church, the GE Quarter Century Club, and the GE Athletic Association.
An avid golfer until last year, he was treasurer of his golf league, the “Dew Chasers,†for 25 years.
He and his wife, the former Mary Rapkowicz, celebrated their 62nd wedding anniversary June 7.
Besides his wife, he leaves a daughter, Sonya M. Zack of Boston; two sons, Peter Zack Jr. of Porter, Maine, and John S. Zack of Pittsfield; two brothers, John Zack of Garden Grove, Calif., and Daniel Zack of Pittsfield, and three granddaughters.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Peter Zack, who died June 23, 2003, will be conducted Thursday, June 26, at 9 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Mary Schreiber, senior missioner of St. Martin’s Church.
Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in Pittsfield Cemetery. There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Perkins Talking Book Library in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
