Grace G. Jakacky, 78, of 35 Wagner Drive, Orono, Maine, formerly of North Street, died Monday morning at Ross Manor in Bangor, Maine.
Born in Kingman, Maine, on Oct. 2, 1924, daughter of Joseph and Martha Dobson Grover, she attended schools there.
She moved to the Berkshires in 1943 and returned to Maine in 1980.
A waitress, Mrs. Jakacky had worked at several area restaurants for many years.
While in Pittsfield, she attended St. Charles’ Church.
She enjoyed crocheting lap robes for nursing home patients in Maine and baby blankets for Newborns in Need.
She also enjoyed playing bingo and games of chance.
Her husband, William F. Jakacky, whom she married July 7, 1943, died June 1, 1990.
She leaves three sons, William F. Jakacky of Indianapolis, Wayne F. Jakacky of Pittsfield and Glenn J. Jakacky of Glenburn, Maine; two daughters, Laura Garrity of Pittsfield and Mary Larkin of Sangerville, Maine, 17 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Grace G. Grover Jakacky, age 78, died June 23, 2003. Calling hours will be Friday beginning at 9:30 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, with a funeral service to be conducted 11 at the funeral home by the Rev. Daniel Brunton, chaplain at Providence Care Center.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Bangor Visiting Nurses and Hospice in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
