Mabel E. Gilardi, 89, died yesterday morning at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided for two years.
Born in Pittsfield on March 25, 1914, daughter of Anton B. and Martha M. Olsen Olsen, she was a 1931 graduate of Pittsfield High School.
Primarily a homemaker, she had been employed as a dental assistant from 1932 to 1937, then worked at GE until 1941.
Mrs. Gilardi was a member of the former Trinity Methodist Church of Pittsfield, now United Methodist Church of Lenox.
Her husband, Charles F. Gilardi, whom she married June 30, 1940, in Bennington, Vt., died May 26, 1990.
She leaves a daughter, Jeanne M. Bresnehan of Pittsfield; a son, Philip C. Gilardi of Lenox; a sister, Anna M. Brownlee of Sun City Center, Fla.; two brothers, Corey Olsen and Harold Olsen, both of Pittsfield, and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Mabel E. Olsen Gilardi, age 89, died June 24, 2003. Calling hours will be Thursday from 4 to 7 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. The funeral will be Friday at 2 at United Methodist Church of Lenox.
Burial will be in Pittsfield Cemetery at the convenience of the family. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, memorial donations may be made to the Women’s Society of United Methodist Church or to the Hillcrest Commons Residents Council Fund in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
She also is survived by her daughter-in-law, Kathleen Gilardi; her grandchildren, Courtney Gilardi-Coco and her husband, Gareth, of Australia, Danielle Gilardi of Cambridge, Gary Bresnehan and his wife, Kellie Berg-Bresnehan, both of Grosse Pointe, Mich., and Paul Bresnehan of Stamford, Conn. She was predeceased by her brothers Arthur, Edward and Ernest Olsen; and her son-in-law, John D. Bresnehan.
