Stephen Peter Naprava, 90, of 310 Lenox Ave. died Friday evening at Craneville Place of Dalton, where he had resided since October 1999.
Born in Adams on May 17, 1913, son of Stanislaw and Stephania Kamuda Naprava, he was educated in Pittsfield schools and graduated from Pittsfield High School in 1932.
An Army veteran of World War II, Mr. Naprava served with Headquarters Battalion, 62nd Field Artillery Battalion and had been with several campaigns throughout Europe.
Mr. Naprava was employed by GE for 35 years, retiring in 1978 as a production supervisor.
He was a communicant of Holy Family Church.
He was a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners’ clubs, the Dalton American Legion and the Dalton VFW.
An avid golfer, he was a member of the Berkshire Hills Country Club, where he held the course record of 64 from 1962 to 1999, and was a Western Massachusetts golf champion.
He also enjoyed gardening.
His wife, the former Pauline Mary Lampro, whom he married Jan. 21, 1941, died May 21, 1996.
He leaves a son, Stephen P. Naprava of Pittsfield; a daughter, Mary-Ann Quinn of Canterbury, N.H.; five sisters, Mary Howard and Wanda Skowronski, both of Dalton, Jenny Donahue of Pittsfield, Sophie Stickles of Philmont, N.Y., and Helen Sharkey of Rome, Ga., and two grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Stephen Peter Naprava, who died Friday, June 20, 2003, will be Thursday, June 26, at 10 at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 at Holy Family Church by the Rev. Peter A. Gregory, pastor of St. Charles’ Church.
Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be from 9:45 to 10:45 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Berkshire County Jimmy Fund in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield. He leaves his two grandchildren, Kevin Quinn and Valerie Quinn. He was predeceased by a brother, Walter Naprava.
