Lonnie Wayne King

Lonnie Wayne King, 52, of 240 Francis Ave. died Thursday morning at home after a long illness.

Born in Lexington, Va., on Nov. 10, 1950, son of Myrtle M. Bannister King and the late Lloyd L. King Sr., he was educated in schools there.

He had been employed as a boiler maintenance man at Crane & Co.’s Byron-Weston mill for 18 years, retiring in 1985 because of ill health.

Previously, he had worked as a service contractor at Rochester Midland Co. in Rochester, N.Y. He also did auto mechanic work and operated an automotive detailing business for many years.

Mr. King was a member of Randolph Street Methodist Church in Lexington.

Besides his mother, of Pittsfield, he leaves a son, Aaron O. King of Pittsfield; a daughter, Anissa L. King of Pittsfield; three brothers, Tyson K. King and Laurence O. King, both of Pittsfield, and Larry E. King of Syracuse, N.Y.; a sister, Joyce E. Stores of Pittsfield, and four grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Lonnie Wayne King, who died Thursday, June 19, was predeceased by his father, Lloyd L. King Sr., on July 20, 2002, and by his brothers Lloyd L. King Jr. in 1953 and Thurmond L. King in 1967.

He leaves four grandchildren, Marcelle King, Asina King, Shantel King-Reynolds and Raja King; his nieces and nephews, Marshall Stores III, Katrina King, Lance King, Kerry King, Tyrone King and Brandon Powell, as well as a host of friends and acquaintances. The funeral will be conducted Tuesday, June 24, at 7 p.m. at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. William D. Furey. Burial will be in Rockridge Memorial Garden Cemetery in Lexington, Va.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 4 to 7. The omission of flowers is requested; however, if friends desire, contributions may be made to the Pittsfield Adult Learning Center in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
