Anthony Joseph Frada

Anthony Joseph Frada, 85, of 159 Union St. died Saturday at Hillcrest Commons, where he had resided for a year.

Born in Tripi, Sicily, Italy, on Aug. 25, 1917, son of Joseph and Anna Leto Frada, he attended school in Italy and emigrated as a child to Cambridge, where he was a graduate of Rindge Technical High School.

He moved to Pittsfield in 1936.

He served in the Third Army, 2nd Armored Division, during World War II.

Mr. Frada worked for GE ordnance as an assembler for 35 years, retiring in 1982.

He was a member of Charles A. Persip Post 68 American Legion and GE Quarter Century and Pensioners’ clubs, and enjoyed candlepin bowling.

He was city champion in 1947-1948.

He and his wife, the former Catherine LeVardi, were married Oct. 6, 1936, in Cambridge.

Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Joseph R. Frada of Pittsfield and Anthony L. Frada of Richmond, and a brother, Louis Frada of Natick.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Anthony Joseph Frada, 85, who died Saturday, June 14, will be Wednesday, June 18, at 10 at DERY FUNERAL HOME.

Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 at the funeral home, 54 Bradford St. Mr. Frada was predeceased by two sisters, Frances Mazola and Vicenzarose Flaherty.
