Christopher J. Bernard, 42, of 105 Sherwood Drive died Saturday afternoon at Berkshire Medical Center from injuries sustained in a motorcycle accident on Merrill Road in Pittsfield.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 23, 1961, son of Robert and Beverly Hartman Bernard, he was a 1979 graduate of Taconic High School.
Mr. Bernard was employed as a welder and millwright at Berkshire Mechanical Services in Lee.
In his younger years, he worked at Southern Berkshire Mechanical and for George Van Zandt in Lenox Dale.
He was a communicant of St. Ann’s Church and enjoyed fishing, gardening and cooking.
Besides his parents, of Lenox, he leaves three brothers, Marc A. Bernard of Chicago, Michael R. Bernard of Hyde Park and Daniel J. Bernard of Housatonic, and a sister, Patricia A. Bernard of Hyde Park.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A Liturgy of Christian Burial for Christopher J. Bernard, 42, who died June 14, 2003, will be celebrated Friday, June 20, at 11 at St. Ann’s Church by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor.
Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Calling hours will be Friday from 9:15 to 10:30 at DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield. Mr. Bernard was proud of his work as a welder/millwright and held a sense of accomplishment in doing a job well. He also is survived by two nieces, Alexandra and Grace Bernard, and by several aunts and uncles.
