Mary Morton Whitney, 81, died Wednesday at Genesis Elder Care in Lebanon, N.H.
She and her late husband, Clifford L. Whitney, lived in Dalton for many years.
Born in Mechanic Falls, Maine, on Jan. 12, 1922, daughter of Charles H. and Florence E. Gatchell Morton, she graduated from Mechanic Falls High School.
She lived in Dalton from 1945 until 1984 while her husband was employed at GE in Pittsfield.
Her husband, whom she married on Oct. 12, 1942, died on Dec. 20, 1979.
She leaves four sons, James C. Whitney of Ventura, Calif., Thomas C. Whitney of Lacey Spring, Ala., Timothy C. Whitney of South Woodstock, Vt., and David M. Whitney of Dover, N.H.; a sister, Rachael Wright of Florida; seven granchildren and three great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A graveside service for Mary Morton Whitney, who died June 11, 2003, will be held tomorrow, June 14, 2003, at 10:30 at the Ashuelot Cemetery in Dalton, with the Rev. Mary Schriber officiating.
There will be no calling hours. Friends wishing to may make donations to the Multiple Sclerosis Society, 100 Dorset St., Suite 12, South Burlington, VT 05403. Arrangements are under the direction of THE CABOT FUNERAL HOME, 1 Rose Hill, Woodstock, VT 05091.
