PITTSFIELD, Mass. — Leslie Edmond "Sonny" Perkins Jr., 63, of 493 Wahconah St. died Sunday evening, May 18, 2003, at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Pittsfield on Nov. 25, 1939, son of Leslie E. Perkins Sr. and Alice Wrisley Perkins, he attended local schools.
He served in the Navy from 1958 to 1960.
Mr. Perkins was employed as a setup and repair man for GE ordnance systems, retiring from its successor, Martin Marietta, after 30 years of service.
Following his retirement, he worked part time at Wal-Mart.
He was a member of TOPS and enjoyed golfing, bowling and participating in the Sunday flea market in New Lebanon, N.Y. He also was known as "Perky" and "Moose."
He leaves his wife, the former Judith Lubold, whom he married March 28, 1970.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, Leslie E. Perkins III and Mark Perkins, both of Pittsfield; two daughters, Christine Perkins Hisert and Alice Perkins, both of Pittsfield; a brother, Daniel C. Perkins of Pittsfield; two sisters, his twin, Lillian Hall of Pittsfield, and Judith A. Pupo of Cheshire; five grandchildren and his uncle, Robert Wrisley of Connecticut.
FUNERAL NOTICE — The funeral for Mr. Perkins will be conducted Thursday, May 22, at 11:30 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Peter D. Boehringer, pastor of Zion's Evangelical Lutheran Church. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
