Roland Thomas Roy, 70, of 57 Fabyan Point, Newington, N.H., died Friday at home.
His sister, Lucille Horton, lives in Pittsfield.
Born in Bennington, Vt., on Dec. 29, 1932, son of Alfred and Imelda Betit Roy, he attended local schools.
He enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1951. He served with distinction during the Korean War and was discharged from the Marine barracks at the U.S. naval base in Portsmouth.
Mr. Roy was self-employed in the construction business for many years and worked at the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard in Shop 11 for 15 years before retiring. After his retirement, he worked for the town of Newington.
He was a member of the Marine Corps League, the American Legion and the VFW.
His former wife, Elizabeth Lois Roy, died in 2001.
Besides his sister, he leaves a son, Thomas J. Roy of Strafford, N.H.; two daughters, Susan Marie Roy of Newington and Erin Christine Roy of Dover, N.H.; three sisters, Lucille Horton of Pittsfield, Julliette Wheeler of Fallston, Md., and Betty Sausville of Bennington, and four grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Roland Thomas Roy, 70, of Newington died May 16, 2003, at home surrounded by his family. A graveside service will be held at Newington (N.H.) Cemetery on Wednesday at 11. Friends are invited.
There will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Portsmouth VNA Home Health and Hospice, 95 Albany St., Suite 11, Portsmouth, NH 03801. Arrangements by FARRELL FUNERAL HOME, 684 State St., Portsmouth, N.H. Survivors include four grandchildren, Brian, Stephanie, Hannah and Katy, and several nieces and nephews.
