Edith F. Kamienski, 73, of 24 Evelyn St. died Sunday morning at home.
Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 25, 1930, daughter of Harry and Lillian Berman Brookner, she attended local schools. She graduated from Highland Manor High School in West Long Branch, N.J., in 1947.
She also attended Kathleen Dell Secretarial School in Boston and Mary Washington College in Fredricksburg, Va.
Mrs. Kamienski was a manager at the former Bradlees Department Store in Pittsfield for five years, retiring in 1981.
When she returned to the area from Virginia, she operated the former Edie’s Maternity Shop for 15 years, then managed several retail stores.
For many years, she served on the review board of the foster care system, administered by the state Department of Social Services.
She leaves her longtime companion, Francis McKeever; a son, Scott Alan Kamienski of Dalton, and two brothers, Howard Brookner of Williamstown and George Brookner of Norwalk, Conn.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Graveside services to celebrate the life of Edith F. Brookner Kamienski will take place tomorrow, Wednesday, at 1 at the family lot in Ashuelot Cemetery, Dalton.
There will be no calling hours. FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, is in charge of arrangements.
