Frederick Moretti

Frederick Moretti, 89, a resident of Springside, formerly of Dickinson Avenue, died Wednesday evening at Berkshire Medical Center.

He had lived in Springside since October 2002.

Born Oct. 25, 1913, in Winchester, Conn., son of Innocienso and Lenafontana Moretti, he attended schools and lived most of his life in West Stockbridge, then most recently in Pittsfield.

He served in the Civilian Conservation Corps from 1934 to 1937.

He was a custodian at GE for 12 years, retiring in 1978.

Prior to that he was employed at the former Elmvale Worsted Mills.

He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a charter member of the ITAM lodge and a member of the Ralph J. Froio Senior Center. He played card, bingo and bocci.

His wife, the former Almina Baribeau, died March 2, 1994.

He leaves two sons, Raymond F. Moretti and Frederick R. Moretti, both of Pittsfield; a sister, Alba O’Hara of San Gabriel, Calif.; three grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Funeral services for Frederick Moretti, who died Wednesday, April 23, will be held Tuesday, April 29, at 9:15 from the DERY FUNERAL HOME, with a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, C.S.S., pastor. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery.

Calling hours at the funeral home will be Monday from 7 to 9. In lieu of flowers, contributions in memory of Mr. Moretti may be made to the Springside of Pittsfield Residents’ Fund in care of DERY FUNERAL HOME, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
