Tekla Vilot

Tekla Vilot, 94, formerly of 30 Wahconah Heights, died Wednesday morning at Hillcrest Commons.
Born in the Ukraine on Nov. 29, 1908, daughter of John and Anna Chiakowski Maciopa, she was educated there.
She immigrated to the United States in 1939 and settled in Pittsfield.
She was employed as housekeeper/friend for several prominent Pittsfield families, and as a machine operator at the former Greylock Plastics for 11 years, retiring in 1980.
She continued working as a housekeeper until she was in her 80s.
Mrs. Vilot attended St. John’s Ukrainian Catholic Church and was active in its Women’s Club.
She enjoyed gardening, animals and birdwatching.
She leaves two sons, Stephen M. Vilot Sr. of Pittsfield and Thomas J. Vilot of Adams; a daughter, Mary Ann Dunlop of Southbridge; two brothers and four sisters, all in the Ukraine; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Tekla Vilot, age 94, died April 23, 2003. She was predeceased by her granddaughter, Melissa Vilot, on April 8, 2003. Calling hours will be Friday from 4 to 6 at the DEVANNY-CONDRON FUNERAL HOME. Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time.
Burial will be in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, if friends desire, donations may be made to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 40 Maplewood Ave., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
