Rosemarie Winstanley

Rosemarie Winstanley, 73, of Sunset Avenue died Saturday morning at home.

She was chairman of the Allied Board of Mental Health for the commonwealth of Massachusetts from 1996 to 2000. Born in Boston on Dec. 22, 1929, daughter of Silvio and Italina Polloni Montegani, she trained at Boston City Hospital as a nurse and later became a nursing supervisor.

After raising her family, she received a bachelor of arts degree from the University of Rochester in New York, a master’s degree from State University of New York in Brockport and a doctorate in psychology from SUNY Buffalo.

Mrs. Winstanley maintained a private practice in family and marriage counseling in Rochester and, later, in Duxbury.

She and her husband, Nathan B. Winstanley Jr., were married in June 1953.

Besides her husband, she leaves two sons, Nathan Winstanley III of Lenox and Michael Winstanley of Alexandria, Va.; a sister, Silvia Nordwall of Harpswell, Maine; a brother, Francis J. Montegani of North Olmsted, Ohio, and five grandchildren.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Rosemarie Winstanley will be Wednesday morning at 10:15 from ROCHE FUNERAL HOME, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 11 at St. Ann’s Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor.

Burial will follow in St. Ann’s Cemetery. Calling hours at the funeral home will be tomorrow from 4 to 7 and Wednesday morning from 9 until the time of the funeral. At the request of the family, donations in lieu of flowers may be made to assist in the care of the homeless and less fortunate through the Boston Rescue Mission, P.O. Box 120069, Boston, MA 02112-0069, (617) 482-8819.

Mrs. Winstanley is also survived by her grandchildren, Nathan, Kaitlin and Thomas Winstanley of Lenox, and Alexander and Lilly Winstanley of Alexandria, Va., and by two daughters-in-law, M. Kathryn Winstanley and Catherine Winstanley.
