Amelia A. Morris, 83, formerly of 36 Lakewood Drive, died yesterday at Hillcrest Commons, where she had resided since November 1997.
Born on April 6, 1920, in Pittsfield, daughter of Joseph and Anna Zolkowski Sarmuk, she was a graduate of St. Joseph’s High School. She was employed by the former A&P supermarket on Elm Street as a cashier for 15 years, retiring in 1982.
During World War II, she worked at GE.
Her husband, Harold G. Morris, died May 2, 1986.
She leaves three sons, Michael J. Morris of North Adams, Dennis W. Morris of Stephentown, N.Y., and Geoffrey G. Morris of North Carolina; four grandchildren, and a great-grandson.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Amelia A. Morris, 83, who died April 6, 2003, will be conducted tomorrow, April 8, at 10 at DERY FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Charles F. Young, chaplain of HospiceCare in the Berkshires.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be tomorrow from 9 to 10, prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Visiting Nurse Association or to HospiceCare in the Berkshires, both in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
