Irene M. Eichorn

Irene M. Eichorn, 87, formerly of 177 High St., died Friday at Springside of Pittsfield, where she had resided for a week.

She had resided at Cameron House in Lenox for two years. Born in Adams on June 24, 1915, daughter of Walter and Clara Pause Aspinall, she was a graduate of Drury High School in North Adams and of the former nursing school at North Adams Regional Hospital. She moved to Dalton in the late 1940s.

A homemaker, Mrs. Eichorn was a member of Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton, and a longtime member of candlepin bowling leagues. She was also a gardener and bird watcher.

Her husband, Raymond E. Eichorn, whom she married Dec. 25, 1936, died Sept. 28, 1978.

She leaves two sons, Raymond R. Eichorn of Pittsfield and Jeffrey A. Eichorn of South Easton; two daughters, Joan B. Bergquam of Sonora, Calif., and Kathryn E. Slater of Wassaic, N.Y.; a sister, Alice Supevnauage of Carneys Point, N.J.; 11 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. A daughter, Linda R. Eichorn, died in 1997.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Irene Eichorn will be held Wednesday at 11:30 at Grace Episcopal Church in Dalton, with the Rev. Mary Screiber, missioner, officiating.

Burial will be at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10 to 11 at BARTLETT-WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME in Dalton. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to HospiceCare in the Berkshires in care of the funeral home, 525 Main St., Dalton, MA 01226.
