Russell C. Thomas, 91, of 674 West Housatonic St., died at Springside of Pittsfield yesterday.
He had resided there since July 2000. Born in Pittsfield June 18, 1911, son of Henry F. and E. Eeleelah Chapman Thomas, he attended Pittsfield schools.
He was the manager of The Gold Shop on North Street for 45 years, retiring in 1971. He was a watchmaker and jeweler. He was a member of the First Baptist Church and the AARP. A former volunteer fireman in Pittsfield, he also enjoyed fishing and fencing.
His wife, the former Elsie B. Johnson, whom he married May 29, 1938, died Jan. 1, 1994.
He leaves a daughter, Barbara L. Decker of Richmond.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Russell C. Thomas will be today at 11 at the WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. Linda Shaw officiating. Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery.
There will be no calling hours. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to either the American Diabetes Association or to the national Multiple Sclerosis Society in care of the funeral home, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
