Louis P. Coco Sr

Louis P. Coco Sr., 83, of 180 Velma Ave., died Thursday at Berkshire Medical Center.
Born in Lee Sept. 12, 1919, son of Peter and Spizia Esoldi Coco, he attended Lee schools.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving in the Army Air Corps for four years. He served in the Asiatic-Pacific theater and received the Victory Medal and other citations. He worked in the GE power transformer department for 34 years, retiring in April 1982. Before this he was employed by the Schweitzer Paper Mill in Lee for nine years.
He was a communicant of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, a member of the GE Quarter Century Club and GE Pensioners Club, a member of American Legion Post 68 of Pittsfield and the Italian American Club of Pittsfield. He traveled, cooked, played cards, gardened, and especially liked boxing and the New York Yankees.
His first wife, the former Maria Pascetta, whom he married Sept. 5, 1942, died March 24, 1960. His second wife, the former Evelyn E. Lucaroni, whom he married June 19, 1965, at All Souls Church, died July 13, 2002.
He leaves two sons, Louis P. Coco Jr. of Richmond and David A. Coco of Dalton; two brothers, Michael Coco and Joseph Coco, both of Lee; four sisters, Nanette VanAlstyne of Sun City West, Ariz., Claire St. Peter of Orlando, Fla., Helena Sweeney of Winsted, Conn., and Lucy Buscemi of Sparks, Nev.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.

Loving grandfather of Jeffrey Coco, Jennifer Rodgers, Shannon Coco, Christine Coco and Robert Coco. Loving great-grandfather of Siobhan Rodgers, Autumn Rodgers and Madeline Coco. Dear brother of Michael Coco, Joseph Coco, Nanette VanAlstyne, Claire St. Peter, Helena Sweeney and Lucy Buscemi.
Funeral services will take place Monday, April 7, at 9 from the FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., Pittsfield, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be Sunday, April 6, from 4 to 7. He was predeceased by one brother, Dominic Coco, and three sisters, Carmella Argentino, Angelina Fraley and Mary Lane.
