Edward W. Callahan

Edward W. Callahan, 82, of General Cobb Street, Taunton, a native of Pittsfield, died Sunday at home following a short illness.
Born on June 9, 1920, son of Edward and Jane Webb Callahan, he was a graduate of Pittsfield High School.
He also attended Wentworth College, now Wentworth Institute of Technology, in Boston. He had been a resident of Taunton for 55 years.
He was a Navy veteran of World War II.
Mr. Callahan was employed by GE in Pittsfield and, following World War II, in Taunton. He retired from Haskon Industry in 1983.
He was a communicant of Annunciation of the Lord Church, formerly Sacred Heart Church, in Taunton, where he was a founding member of the Holy Name Society.
He was a former director of the Taunton Boys’ and Girls’ Club, and a member of the Society of Plastic Engineers. He was an avid golfer, walker and traveler.
He leaves his wife, the former Rosemary M. Norton; a daughter, Patricia Henderson of West Bridgewater; two sons, Dr. James Callahan of Plymouth and John Callahan of Taunton, and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Edward W. Callahan will be Wednesday, April 2, at 9 from O’KEEFE-WADE FUNERAL HOME in Taunton, followed by a funeral Mass at 10 at Annunciation of the Lord Church.
Interment will be in the National Cemetery in Bourne at 12:45. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to HospiceCare of Greater Taunton, 244 North Main St., Raynham, MA 02767.
