William E. Barnes Jr.

William E. Barnes Jr., 68, of 20 Barker Road, died Thursday at his home after suffering an apparent heart attack.
Born in Pittsfield July 3, 1934, son of William E. Barnes Sr. and Marjorie A. Peaslee Barnes, he attended Pittsfield schools.
He was a veteran of the Korean War. He was employed by Dufour Escorted Tours as a tour bus driver for 17 years, retiring in 1995. Prior to that, he was employed by United Parcel Service for 13 years. He enjoyed photography. When he was young, he played third base for the James Jewelers in the City League.
He leaves his wife, the former Margaret E. Kie, whom he married July 7, 1954; two sons, William E. Barnes III of Yarmouthport and Jeffrey E. Barnes of Lanesboro; four brothers, Robert L. Barnes of Pittsfield, Frank C. Barnes of Dalton, George E. Barnes of Spanaway, Wash., and Richard J. Barnes of Pittsfield; five sisters, Marion E. Christman, Lillian G. Frederick of Pittsfield, Ruth G. Barnes of Pittsfield, Beatrice M. Wendell of Dalton, and Marjorie I. Signor of Pittsfield, and three grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- William E. Barnes Jr., who died Thursday, March 27, leaves his daughter-in-law Kathaleen Barnes; and his three granddaughters, Samantha, Karissa and Maddison.. Funeral services for Mr. Barnes will be Monday, March 31, at noon at DERY FUNERAL HOME, with the Rev. William D. Furey officiating.
Burial will follow in Pittsfield Cemetery. Calling hours will be Sunday from 6 to 9 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home, 54 Bradford St., Pittsfield, MA 01201.
