Theresa “Anna” Forte

Theresa “Anna” Forte, 77, of 145 Dewey Ave., former co-owner of West Side Clocks on North Street, died Saturday at Berkshire Medical Center.

Born in Pittsfield on Feb. 8, 1926, daughter of Angelo and Onorina Baldassari Battaini, she attended Pittsfield schools.

She and her husband, Attilio L. Forte, owned the clock company for 20 years. She retired in 2000. Before that, she worked at the former Grand Union in Pittsfield for 21 years and at the former South End Market for several years. She was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church and enjoyed gardening and raising flowers and dogs.

She and her husband were married May 9, 1952, at Mount Carmel Church.

Besides her husband, she leaves a son, Richard D. Forte of Pittsfield; a daughter, Anna Maria Forte of Pittsfield; three brothers, Lawrence Battaini of Pittsfield, Steven Battaini of Orange, Conn., and Aldo Battaini of Wichita Falls, Texas, and a sister, Eleanor L. Rotz of Pittsfield.

FUNERAL NOTICE -- Theresa “Anna” Forte, 77, died Saturday, March 22, 2003. Beloved wife of Attilio L. Forte. Devoted mother of Richard D. Forte and Anna Maria Forte. Dear sister of Lawrence Battaini, Steven Battaini, Aldo Battaini and Eleanor L. Rotz. Additional survivors include several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

The funeral will be Tuesday, March 25, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Geoffrey J. Deeker, CSS, pastor. Burial will follow in the family plot at St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Pittsfield. Calling hours at the funeral home will be today, March 24, from 4 to 7. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Berkshire Humane Society in care of the funeral home. She was predeceased by a sister, Mary Rose Killen, and a brother, George Battaini.
