George H. "Red" Robinson

George H. "Red" Robinson, who performed for 55 years as an organist and vocalist with his band at the former Stanley Club and at Eastover Resort in Lenox, died yesterday at Berkshire Medical Center. He was 83.
Mr. Robinson, whose band was known as Red Robinson's Band, had resided at 16 Dorchester Ave. Born in Williamstown on Sept. 30, 1919, son of George H. and Anna LeFebvre Robinson, he was a 1946 graduate of the former Williamstown High School.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in Normandy, Northern France, the Rhineland and Central Europe. Mr. Robinson was employed by GE for 41 years, retiring in 1983 from the ordnance department.
He was a communicant of Mount Carmel Church, a member of its Holy Name Society and its organist for many years. He was also a member of the GE Quarter Century and Pensioners' clubs and enjoyed bowling, sports and cooking.
He and his wife, the former Lena A. Pariselli, celebrated their 49th wedding anniversary Nov. 11. They were married in Mount Carmel Church.
Besides his wife, he leaves two sons, James J. Robinson of Greenfield and John A. Robinson of Vanderbilt, Pa.; a daughter, Judith A. Pierce of Raleigh, N.C.; two sisters, Evelyn A. Robinson and Catherine R. Robinson, both of Williamstown, and five grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- George H. "Red" Robinson, 83, died Sunday, March 16, 2003. Beloved husband of Lena A. Pariselli Robinson; devoted father of James J. Robinson and his wife, Diane, John A. Robinson and his wife, Barbara, and Judith A. Pierce and her husband, Michael. Cherished grandfather of Jennifer and Robert A. Tierney, Haley E. Robinson, John A. Robinson and Jessica A. Robinson. Dear brother of Evelyn A. Robinson and Catherine R. Robinson. Predeceased by a brother, Lawrence Robinson.
Other survivors include many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. Mr. Robinson's grandchildren brought him many hours of happiness. The funeral will be Wednesday, March 19, at 9 from FLYNN & DAGNOLI-BENCIVENGA FUNERAL HOME, 5 Elm St., followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church celebrated by the Rev. Christopher J. Waitekus, pastor of St. Ann's Church in Lenox, a nephew of Mrs. Robinson.
Burial will take place in the family plot at St. Joseph's Cemetery. Calling hours will be Tuesday, March 18, from 4 to 7 at the funeral home. The Mount Carmel Ladies' Guild and Holy Name Society will meet Tuesday evening at 5:15 for a Vigil Service. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Mount Carmel Church in care of the funeral home.
