Claire Cecilia Meunier, 89, of 12 State Road died Saturday afternoon at home.
Born in Lee on Dec. 15, 1913, daughter of Thomas and Ellen "Nellie" Brophy Bradley, she was a 1932 graduate of the former Dalton High School and a 1934 graduate of St. Margaret's Nursing School for Children in Troy, N.Y. She had resided in Pittsfield since 1981 and in Dalton most of her life.
Primarily a homemaker, Mrs. Meunier had worked at GE as an inspector in the plastics department.
She was a communicant of St. Mark's Church in Pittsfield and of St. Agnes' Church in Dalton, where she was a member of the Rosary Society. She was an at-home prayer minister for the Marian Fathers, praying for the intentions of others. She enjoyed reading, doing puzzles and playing Scrabble, and was a Red Sox fan.
She and her husband, Roland G. Meunier, were married July 29, 1939, at St. Mary's Church.
Besides her husband, she leaves five sons, Paul P. Meunier of Citrus Springs, Fla., Peter A. Meunier of Hinsdale, John K. Meunier of Liverpool, N.Y., James Meunier of Richmond, Va., and Mark G. Meunier of Dalton; six daughters, Claire C. Brown of Tampa, Fla., Margaret M. McMahon of Richmond, Catherine M. Grady of Dalton, and Ann N. Pariselli, Mary Lou Musacchio and Ellen T. Meunier, all of Pittsfield; 29 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren. Another son, George Meunier, died in 1946.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- Services for Claire C. Bradley Meunier, 89, who died March 15, 2003, will be tomorrow at 9 from DERY-FOLEY FUNERAL HOME, 890 East Main St., Dalton, followed by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at 10 at St. Mark's Church, Pittsfield. Burial will follow in St. Mary's Cemetery, Lee. Calling hours will be today, Monday, from 4 to 8 at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Dalton Senior Center in care of the funeral home. Mrs. Meunier, a loving and devoted wife and mother, will be dearly missed by all who loved her. Her loving daughter, Ellen, was her devoted caregiver. Mrs. Meunier was predeceased by a brother, Joseph Bradley, in 1961 and by two sisters, Mary L. Bradley in 1981 and Eileen Winters in 1986. Also predeceased by three adored grandchildren, John Henry Meunier, Mary Anne Brown and Angela Meunier.
