Kenneth F. Mathews, 81, of 40 Pine St. died yesterday at home.
Born in St. Johnsbury, Vt., on Jan. 20, 1922, son of William B. and Maud Simpson Mathews, he was a graduate of St. Johnsbury High School and attended courses in toolmaking.
An Army veteran of World War II, he served in France and Europe for three years. He was employed as a toolmaker at GE for 32 years. Before that, he worked at May Engineering in Pittsfield from 1947 to 1952.
Mr. Mathews was a member of First United Methodist Church and the GE Quarter Century Club. He was a sergeant in the civil defense for 23 years and active with the Red Cross.
He leaves a sister, Ruth L. Mathews, with whom he resided.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- The funeral for Kenneth F. Mathews will be conducted Thursday at 2 at WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME by the Rev. Roger Davis, pastor of First United Methodist Church.
Burial will be in Mount Pleasant Cemetery in St. Johnsbury, Vt., at a later date. Calling hours will be Thursday from 1 to 2 at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to the American Red Cross.
