Eleanor Choiniere, 86, of West Cornwall, Conn., died Tuesday at Litchfield Woods in Torrington, Conn.
She was the mother of Joanne Woodworth of Pittsfield.
Born in Poughkeepsie, N.Y., on Oct. 4, 1916, daughter of William and Theresa Smith Mathews, she was raised by her grandfather, John Smith, on a farm on Sharon Mountain in Connecticut, and attended Cornwall schools.
Mrs. Choiniere had been a school bus driver in Cornwall and a clerk at Burce's general store in West Cornwall.
She was active in Second Congregational Church in West Cornwall. She made wedding and birthday cakes, and enjoyed gardening. Her husband, Joseph Henry Choiniere, is deceased.
Besides her daughter, of Pittsfield, she leaves two other daughters, Lorraine Hammond of Brookline and Katherine Loomis of Colebrook, Conn.; a sister, Charlotte Johnson of Wappinger Falls, N.Y.; five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A funeral service for Eleanor Choiniere will be held Saturday, March 15, at 1 in United Church of Christ, Congregational in Cornwall, Conn. Calling hours will be Friday, March 14, from 5 to 7 at KENNY FUNERAL HOME, 41 Main St., Sharon, Conn.
A private burial will be in the spring in East Side Cemetery in Sharon. Memorial contributions may be made to the Little Guild of St. Francis, 285 Goshen-Sharon Turnpike, Cornwall, CT 06753.
