Leslie F. Clark, 89, of Clover Hill Farm, Route 41, died Friday at Laurel Lake Center in Lee.
Born in Richmond on his family's farm on Jan. 9, 1914, son of A. Harry and Gertrude Peirson Clark, he attended local schools. He resided in the family home until moving to Laurel Lake four months ago.
Mr. Clark was employed as a woodworker with GE's power transformer department in Pittsfield for 40 years, retiring in 1977. With his father, he also ran a dairy business on the family farm.
He was a lifelong member of Richmond Congregational Church, where he had served as moderator and deacon. He was the animal inspector for the town of Richmond for many years, longtime chairman of the Zoning Board of Appeals and an assistant town assessor. He also had been a member of the Richmond Fire Department, Richmond Grange, Richmond Historical Commission and the GE Quarter Century Club.
He and his wife, the former Florence Stridsberg, were featured in an ABC News program about Social Security in 1981.
He leaves his wife, whom he married Nov. 6, 1937; two sons, Coast Guard Capt. Russell Clark of Fort Lauderdale, Fla., and Thomas Clark of Frisco, Colo.; a daughter, Janice Clark of Richmond; a granddaughter, two great-grandchildren and a great-great-granddaughter.
FUNERAL NOTICE -- A memorial service for Leslie F. Clark will be held at Richmond Congregational Church at a date and time to be announced. Burial will be in Center Cemetery in Richmond in the spring. There will be no calling hours.
Among survivors are his granddaughter, Holly Clark Sipma of Chicopee; his great-grandchildren, Andrea Sipma and Derek Sipma, and his great-great-granddaughter Madison Poirier of Chicopee. In lieu of flowers, donations are suggested to a charity of the donor's choice. WELLINGTON FUNERAL HOME, 220 East St., Pittsfield, MA 01201, is in charge of arrangements.
